PLAYING PÉTANQUE AT MUSCLIFF PARK

We welcome new members – they are the lifeblood of our sport. Whether you are new to the game or a more experienced player looking for a new venue, come along and see what we’re all about.

Pétanque (commonly also called French boules) is an outdoor sport that’s easy to pick up – though once they’ve mastered the basics many people then realise there are layers of skill and complexity that make our sport so fascinating and rewarding.  The guidance given in the link below is quite long but offers much helpful advice to both experienced players and beginners alike:

For new players, we have spare sets of boules that enable them to get a feel of what size and weight suits them best before they commit to a purchase.

Your first three sessions will be free, but after that you will have to decide either to join the Club or to pay £1 per session. This is because of the conditions laid down by our insurers – once you are a member you are covered by the Club’s public liability insurance.

When you join, you will receive a copy of the following documents:

ADULTS

Membership costs a mere £18 a year, including free on site car parking. This enables you to play at any or all of our weekly sessions and internal competitions, and also makes you eligible for selection to play for one of our New Forest Pétanque League teams.

If you want to play in Southern Counties Pétanque Association leagues or competitions, you will also need to join Petanque England – annual membership £26. But if you do so, then your Muscliff Park membership drops to only £12 a year.  The choice is yours – either way the route is open to a rewarding year’s activity.

For more information please contact the Membership Secretary.

JUNIORS

We offer a warm welcome to junior (under 18) members at Muscliff Park Petanque Club and have properly supervised training and practice sessions for juniors, as well as working with local schools and youth organisations to encourage participation in the sport.

Juniors enjoy weekly supervised instruction sessions, ideally targeted towards progressing through the Petanque England (PE) Junior Skills Award Scheme. These sessions are run by one or more of our PE qualified coaches who all hold enhanced DBS licences.  Once Juniors have gained their PE White Award, they are able to play alongside adult members of the Club.

To participate, Juniors must have the written consent of their parent or guardian. Processes and forms designed for this purpose may be downloaded from the links below.
