What a welcome. Southsea were celebrating their first home league match since before Covid. They provided a selection of scrumptious cakes, specially painted jacks to celebrate the day, and a gallery full of enthusiastic supporters who included Reynard.
To the match. The French duo, JP & Gilles teamed up with Claire in the triples and rushed into a 2-7 deficit. But they are made of stern stuff. They crawled back to 10-10 and then finished it off, great recovery. Alex and his Dad, Steve had to carry me through and did so with great pointing from Steve and superb shooting from Alex, they took us to a 13-5 victory. Muscliff two up.
In the doubles Alex and Steve faced the home team’s top pair and could not quite make it. Never mind. Claire and the old Codger won their match taking it to four, leaving the Frenchmen to do their worst – or best.
They again conceded a 5-9 deficit, but JP got his pointing boots on and Gilles fired through the air hitting everything. Tough tight game but our boys came through 13-12, brilliant.
A good away win, 4-1.
So Southsea have their Club fox – Reynard, see the second picture, he was a bit sad that his team lost, but I must say he was not as good looking at our Freddie – perhaps I am biased, you judge and let us know – pictures below.
