On a dull and chilly morning 11 couples arrived to contest the Club’s Mixed Doubles Championship. They were divided into three leagues (2 of 4 and one of three – the top three in the leagues of 4 and top 2 in league of 3 going forward to the afternoons quarter finals. With the sun coming out pm, and sometimes even two layers of clothing removed, battle commenced. The outcome was semi-finals between Sue Godwin & Gilles Martin playing (and winning 12 – 11) against Debra & Trevor Harman. The other semi saw Paula Fauvel & Stuart Brown winning over Jennie Pudney & Steve White by 12 – 4. The final saw Sue & Gilles beat Paula & Stuart 10 – 8. So congratulations to our new Champions.
