In fierce heat (a lot reflected off the terrain) and no breeze the ”oldies suffered” (with Boyd having to drop out half way through the second game (luckily Brian was available to step in) leaving Mathew and his two mates enjoying the evening. Mathew came out on top with 3 wins, plus 26, with Jayden (from Whitmarsh) 2nd with 3 plus 20, then Gilles (3 plus 15) and Trevor (3 plus 11). The third youngster, George also from Whitmarsh, was unlucky to meet Trevor and his partner in the first round and went down 12-13, winning his other two matches by plus 18. All three youngsters left opponents and partners alike open mouthed wither shooting skills.
Boyd made a calculating error and declared Jayden the winner, but the juniors didn’t want to embarrass Boyd so stayed silent (thank you!). Apparently, according to Mathew’s mum, they had a good laugh about it in the car going home and Jayden’s trophy handed over. Alls well that ends well!.
